Chinese ship seeks shelter at Quezon’s Tayabas Bay due to bad weather

LUCENA CITY — A Chinese cargo vessel sought shelter at Tayabas Bay in Pitogo town in Quezon province on Wednesday, October 26, due to bad weather.

A spot report from Quezon police said the sea vessel “JU XI” with 21 crew and being skippered by Capt. Zhao Faxin, “unintentionally” docked within the territorial waters of Pitogo due to bad weather conditions.

The report stated that after the bad weather, it will continue sailing to China.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), in its bulletin as of 5 a.m. Friday, said Tropical Storm Paeng was last located 410 km east of Borongan City, Eastern Samar.

It was packing maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of 90 kph. Its latest direction was west-northwest at 15 kph.

The state weather bureau raised Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 over Quezon province, including Polillo Islands; Laguna; Rizal; Masbate, including Ticao and Burias Islands; Camarines Norte; the rest of Camarines Sur; Romblon; and Marinduque.
