Pagasa: Signal No. 2 in 16 areas as Paeng nears, Signal No. 1 in Metro Manila
MANILA, Philippines – Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) Number 2 is now up over 16 areas in the country as Tropical Storm Paeng (international name: Nalgae) maintained its strength while swirling towards the Samar provinces Friday afternoon, according to the state weather bureau.
The added that 45 other areas in the country, including Metro Manila, are under TCWS No. 1.
In its 2:00 p.m. update, Pagasa reported that Paeng was spotted 155 kilometers east-northeast of Borongan City, Eastern Samar, packing maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph. while moving west at 30 kph.
“Winds may reach gale-force strength during the passage of Paeng within any of the areas where Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2 is hoisted. Strong winds may be experienced within any of the areas where Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 is hoisted throughout the entire passage of Paeng,” Pagasa said in its advisory.

Storm surge warning!
Pagasa likewise issued a storm surge warning in Albay, Aurora, Camarines Norte, Catanduanes, Eastern Samar, Northern Samar, Quezon, and Sorsogon, said Pagasa.
Landfall forecast
According to Pagasa’s latest track and intensity outlook, Paeng is moving west and may make landfall in Eastern or Northern Samar on Friday afternoon and cross the Bicol region.
