MANILA, Philippines —  Five Filipino crew members have been reported safe after their ship ran aground off Batangas City due to Tropical Storm Paeng (international name: Nalgae), the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said Sunday.

The PCG said the MV EQUADOR “ran aground in the vicinity waters off Batangas City due to Paeng.”

“The five Filipino crew members are safe and in good physical condition. They also said they have no cargoes onboard,” the PCG added.

The PCG has already conducted an oil spill assessment, which  yielded a negative result.
