2 motorcycle riders dead in Quezon road crashes

Motorcyclist dead in Quezon highway mishap

LUCENA CITY — Two motorcycle riders died in separate mishaps on Sunday, Nov. 20, in Quezon province.

Arnold Panganiban and his motorcycle back-rider, Raymond Decenan, were cruising at 8:20 p.m. the Maharlike Highway when they occupied the opposite lane and collided with another motorcycle driven by Charles John Tecson in Barangay Balubal, the Quezon police reported.

Panganiban and Decenan, both not wearing helmets, suffered injuries and were rushed to Quezon Medical Center in this city, but Panganiban was declared dead on arrival.

Investigators said Tecson and his female back-rider refused treatment.

Panganiban’s live-in partner told investigators that both riders were under the influence of liquor.

The police said the concerned parties were open to an amicable settlement.

In Atimonan town, police reported that a truck driven by Ronald Pacuyao Jr. lost its brakes at 11:40 a.m. in a section of the highway in Barangay Malinao Ilaya.

The wayward truck occupied the opposite lane and hit the oncoming motorcycle driven by Mark June Ramo.

Ramo, who was wearing a helmet, died while being taken to Doña Martha Memorial District Hospital in the town proper.

Pacuyao was arrested and placed under police custody and is facing criminal charges. INQ
