After 3 years, QC jail inmates can now have visitors again for Christmas

Visitors are finally allowed in the Quezon City Jail Male Dormitory after three years.

MANILA, Philippines — Inmates, or the so-called, persons deprived of liberty (PDLs), in the Quezon City Jail Male Dormitory can now have visitors again for the first time in three years this Christmas, said the Quezon City local government unit (LGU) on Wednesday.

The dry run of the visitation would be on December 6, 7, 8, 10 and 11 and only 75 people can attend per day, according to a Facebook post from the LGU.

“Ngayong nalalapit na ang kapaskuhan, maaari na muling bumisita ang mga kamag-anak ng mga Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) sa Quezon City Jail Male Dormitory matapos ang halos tatlong taon na absolute jail lockdown na ipinatupad ng Bureau of Jail Management and Penology buhat ng COVID-19,” said Quezon City government.

(Now that the Christmas season is near, the relatives of persons deprived of liberty (PDL) in the Quezon City Jail Male Dormitory after almost three years of absolute lockdown that was implemented by the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology due COVID-19.)

According to the LGU, regular face-to-face visitation would start on December 13, where the PDL’s relatives can visit on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday.
