New COVID-19 cases remain high in 3 Central Luzon provinces

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales — Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, and Pampanga provinces remained on the list of areas in the country with the most number of new COVID-19 cases as of Monday, Dec. 19, according to pandemic monitor OCTA Research.

Bulacan ranked seventh among the 20 provinces that registered the highest number of new infections after tallying 21, OCTA Research said.

Nueva Ecija ranked ninth with 19 new cases, while Pampanga ranked 13th with 17 new infections that day.

The National Capital Region topped the list with 338 new cases.

OCTA Research said the COVID-19 positivity rate in these three provinces remained high. The positivity rate refers to the percentage of tests that turn out positive.

In Zambales, only three new COVID-19 cases were added to its tally as of Monday. Its active cases stood at 32, local data showed. INQ
