Manila Water employee insurance to provide benefits to LGBTQI+, common-law partners

Manila Water has long been committed to UN SDG 5, advocating gender equality, with a majority of empowered women in leadership and technical roles. Manila Water will now include common-law and LGBTQI+ partners of their employees as dependents in the company’s group life insurance policy effective 1 January 2023.

Manila Water will now include common-law and LGBTQI+ partners of their employees as dependents in the company’s group life insurance policy effective 1 January 2023.

MANILA, Philippines — As part of its commitment toward inclusivity, gender equality, and employee benefit accessibility, Manila Water will now include common-law and LGBTQI+ partners of their employees as dependents in the company’s group life insurance policy effective 1 January 2023. The policy covers regular, probationary, and project-based employees.  

“We are very glad to announce that Manila Water is offering this expanded insurance policy to our employees, especially to the members of the LGBTQI+ community. This is part of our strategy to be a more inclusive workplace. To increase our employees’ awareness and engagement, we launched our ‘ToDEI Counts!’ campaign starting with this expanded coverage in our benefits. We want to embrace our differences and make Manila Water a place that champions diversity and sustainable development goals,” Manila Water Corporate Human Resources Group Director Janine Carreon said.

Manila Water has long been committed to UN SDG 5, advocating gender equality, with a majority of empowered women in leadership and technical roles. This breakthrough employee benefits policy is a huge push in promoting diversity, equity, and inclusivity across the Manila Water enterprise. The company has also been conducting DEI training for all its executives and employees as it moves towards becoming a global Filipino water company.
