Kadiwa sales hit P418 million, says Malacañang

The Kadiwa program, which aims to bring agricultural products to the masses at a cheaper price, has sold P418-million worth of goods as of November, serving 1.22 million households nationwide, Malacañang said on Saturday.

MANILA, Philippines – The Kadiwa program, which aims to bring agricultural products to the masses at a cheaper price, has sold P418-million worth of goods as of November, serving 1.22 million households nationwide, Malacañang said on Saturday.

Citing the year-end report of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s administration, the Office of the Press Secretary (OPS) in a statement also said 450 farmer cooperatives and associations, and agri-fishery enterprises have likewise reaped gains from 19,383 Kadiwa selling activities across the country.

And the Kadiwa ng Pasko program, which was launched in November and is seen to be sustained beyond the holiday season, has amassed more than P15 million in sales as of Dec. 11, the OPS added.

The Kadiwa initiative, which stands for “Katuwang sa Diwa at Gawa para sa Masaganang Ani at Mataas na Kita,” provides a market for local farmers and fisherfolk to sell their produce.

It was created during the time of Marcos’ father, former and late President Ferdinand Marcos Sr., and was then rebooted during the administration of Marcos Jr.’s predecessor, Rodrigo Duterte.

During his first State of the Nation Address last July, Marcos Jr., who concurrently sits at the helm of the Department of Agriculture, also vowed to continue the Kadiwa program under his administration.
