MANILA, Philippines — COVID-19 positivity rate (PR) rose in three provinces, Aklan, Iloilo, and South Cotabato while dropping in other provinces, said Octa Research fellow Guido David on Wednesday.
According to David in a Twitter post, the positivity rate in Aklan jumped from 18.4 to 22.9 percent from Dec. 24 to Dec. 31.
“Aklan had a slight increase in PR but many provinces had low positivity rates including Capiz, Cebu, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Iloilo, Leyte, South Cotabato,” said David.
Other spikes in cases were also recorded in the same period in Iloilo, which rose from 3.6 to 3.8 percent and South Cotabato, which rose from 3.1 to 3.6.
Meanwhile, a dip in positivity rate was recorded in other provinces, with the most notable drop in Oriental Mindoro, which decreased from 36.6 to 14.5 percent; and Palawan from 21 to 16.5 percent.
The highest rate and lowest rate are currently Aklan and Davao del Norte at 22.9 and 1.8 percent, respectively.
Based on the DOH’s COVID-19 tracker as of Jan. 3, active COVID-19 infections are currently at 12,362 with 65,435 deaths.
Total COVID-19 caseload is currently at 4,200,255 with 4,122,428 recoveries.
