PH logs 307 COVID-19 infections; active cases at 12,006

The Department of Health (DOH) recorded an additional 307 infections of COVID-19 on Thursday, with active cases slightly rising to 12,006 from the recent 11,975.

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) recorded an additional 307 infections of COVID-19 on Thursday, with active cases slightly rising to 12,006 from the recent 11,975.

Based on the , these new infections put the country’s COVID-19 caseload to 4,069,147 nationwide, with 3,991,615 recoveries and 65,526 deaths.

These new infections are also lower than the average infections recorded last week, Jan.2 to 8, which was at 447, as well as the 481 recorded on Wednesday.

Metro Manila still leads the list of regions with the most number of cases in the past two weeks with 1,819 cases, followed by Calabarzon at second with 903 infections, and Central Luzon with 449.

In terms of areas with the most cases, Quezon City led with 434 infections followed by Cavite which had 266, as well as Rizal with 243.

Meanwhile, a total of 11,814 tests were conducted on Wednesday, which will reflect the number of cases registered on Friday.

The DOH earlier warned the public that daily infections may reach around 700 by Feb. 15, if minimum public health standards continue to ease, or when more variants of COVID-19 enter the country.
