MANILA, Philippines 鈥 Metro Manila recorded 17 cases of COVID-19 on Sunday,聽 the lowest infection tally since March 2020, independent pandemic monitor Octa Research said on Monday.
鈥淸National Capital Region] had 17 new cases on Feb. 5, 2023 鈥 This is the lowest in the NCR since March 20, 2020,鈥澛 Octa research fellow Guido David said on Twitter.
David also said the positivity rate in the metropolis as of February is down to 1.7 percent from 2.4 percent the week before.
The current positivity rate is much lower than the World Health Organization benchmark of five percent.
鈥淭he weekly positivity rate dropped to 1.7 percent as of Feb. 4 as testing remained low at 35 per day per 100k,鈥 he pointed out.
The Philippines reported 36 new infections on Sunday, according to the Department of Health (DOH) COVID-19 data tracker.
The DOH also said that as a result, the overall number of cases rose to 4,073,826, with 9,378 new cases, 3,998,597 recoveries, and 65,851 fatalities.
