Makati City unveils online health clearance certificate application system
MANILA, Philippines — The Makati City government announced Thursday that online application for a standardized, digitized, and centralized health clearance certificate is now open.
Mayor Abby Binay said the system ensures a fast and secure process for obtaining a health clearance certificate, which is a pre-requisite for obtaining an individual mayor’s permit. She also said that the system will help weed out fixers.
A health clearance certificate is a document that may prove that a worker is fit for work and free from infectious disease.
“A health clearance certificate is a requirement in order to obtain an individual mayor’s permit, proves that a worker is physically fit and free from infectious diseases,” she said in a statement.
To apply, applicants must submit a chest X-ray and stool exam results to the Makati Health Department (MHD) for approval before joining an online seminar about sanitation and occupational health.
Article continues after this advertisementApplicants may pay for their health clearance certificate online via GCash or Maya. A health clearance certificate will be valid for one year or until January 2024. It is due for renewal every year.
Article continues after this advertisementAccording to the statement, non-food-related establishment workers will pay P80 for a health clearance certificate; food-related establishment workers, P100; and executives, managers, and supervisors, P150, on top of the P50 fee for processing and seminar.
The rates were indicated under Makati City Ordinance No. 2019-A-102.
Employees without health certificates will be penalized with a P1,000 fine for the first offense; P2,000 for the second offense; and P3,000 for the third offense. The owner of the establishment will shoulder the penalties, the Makati City government said.
Among the MHD-accredited diagnostic facilities in the city are Health Screen Laboratory and Diagnostic Center on Chino Roces Ave., Healthrix Medical and Diagnostic Clinic Corp. on Gen. Luna St., Megason Diagnostic Clinic in Tejeros and Comembo, RG Medical Clinic, Inc. in Bangkal, RGO Medical Laboratory and Industrial Diagnostic Center in Bangkla, Supercare Medical Services, Inc. on H.V. Dela Costa St., The Medical City Clinic on Chino Roces Ave., and Wellnest Diagnostic Center in Poblacion.
“This new system is designed to provide fast and secure processing of health clearance certificates while also helping to weed out fixers and ensuring the safety of the public,” Binay said in the same statement.
“This is a big step forward in streamlining the process and providing our citizens with an efficient way to obtain the certificate,” she also said.
