Man nabbed for P345,000 ‘shabu’ sent via Clark port
CLARK FREEPORT ZONE, Pampanga — Authorities on Thursday, Feb. 23, arrested a 63-year-old man in Masantol town in this province in connection with P345,000 worth of “shabu” (crystal meth) that arrived at the Port of Clark several days ago.
In a statement, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Central Luzon (PDEA-3) identified the suspect as Abner Bautista.
Bautista was arrested after accepting a package containing 50 grams of shabu from California in the United States during a “controlled delivery,” an entrapment operation aimed at identifying and arresting the owner or receiver of the illegal substances.
Glenn Guillermo, PDEA-3 information officer, said the package arrived at the port in Clark Freeport on Feb. 18.
PDEA-3 said an X-ray inspector tagged the package initially as “suspicious.” It was then subjected to K-9 sniffing and tested with a spectrometer, which led to the discovery of the shabu.
