BACOLOD CITY — The Community Animal Rescue Efforts (CARE) and the owner of a Siberian Husky named Skittles, who a neighbor shot, are calling for justice for the dog’s death.

Eduardo Libo-on, 66, has filed a complaint at Police Station 8 against his neighbor Dominador Bangero for allegedly shooting Skittles – a violation of the Animal Cruelty Act – at Greenplains Subdivision in Barangay Singcang-Airport, Bacolod City on Monday, February 20.

Libo-on, in the police blotter report, said Bangero, armed with a .45 caliber pistol, shot the dog when it went out on the street.

Bangero, in an interview on Radyo Bandera Bacolod, alleged that the dog had entered his restaurant, went wild, and caused fear among his customers.

Bangero also claimed that they hit the unruly dog in the restaurant with a piece of wood and shovel before he was shot.

Libo-on said a neighbor reported that the dog that went to his restaurant was a Belgian Malinois, but Skittles is a Siberian Husky.

Libo-on said his dog was not hit with a piece of wood and shovel as it only sustained a gunshot wound which caused its death.

“Bangero’s license to possess a gun should be revoked, as he could shoot others in the future,” Libo-on said.

Libo-on’ daughter Kirsty said it was not even five minutes after Skittles left through their cyclone wire fence when she heard a shot fired. She did not see a lot of customers at the restaurant, as claimed by Bangero.

“Skittles was not a violent dog. The children in the neighborhood even liked to play with him,” she said.

”We want justice for Skittles, he cannot bring back the life of my dog,” she added.

CARE is raising funds for the legal fees to attain justice for Skittles.
