DOH logs 983 COVID-19 infections from March 6-12

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday said it recorded a total of 983 infections of COVID-19 from March 6 to 12, which is slightly higher than the 913 infections registered the previous week.

Based on the DOH’s latest weekly COVID-19 bulletin, these infections translated to a daily average of 140 cases, or ten percent higher than the 130 daily average recorded from Feb. 27 to March 5.

Only one of these new infections was tagged as critical or severe, with active critical or severe COVID-19 admissions at 351.

A total of 58 deaths were also added to the country’s COVID-19 death toll, none of which, however, were recorded in the past two weeks.

All recorded deaths were backlogs recorded as early as March 2021.

The utilization of ICU beds, meanwhile, slightly increased from 13.3 to 13.4 percent, while non-ICU bed utilization rate increased from 16.8 to 17.1 percent.

In terms of vaccination progress, a total of 78,438,601 individuals have been fully vaccinated with the primary series of COVID-19 vaccines, with only 4,207 individuals newly-vaccinated.

A total of 23,801,071, meanwhile, have been vaccinated with their booster shots, after 13,391 received the shots last week.

DOH’s online tracker shows the country’s total COVID-19 caseload is currently at 4,078,071, as of March 13, with 4,002,696 recoveries and 66,217 deaths.

Active cases, meanwhile, are currently at 9,128.
