MANILA, Philippines — The low-pressure area off Samar may dissipate but is expected to trigger rainfall in some parts of the country on Thursday, the state weather bureau said.

As of 3:00 a.m. Thursday, the LPA was located 125 kilometers east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar, according to Benison Estareja, weather specialist of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

Eastern Visayas, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate and Dinagat Islands will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers due to the LPA.

The rest of the country can expect fair weather with partly cloudy to cloudy skies with light rains and thunderstorms, Pagasa said.

Pagasa did not raise a gale warning over any of the country’s seaboards.
