Twenty-seven more Filipinos affected by the Feb. 6 massive earthquake in Turkey returned to the country on Saturday, bringing the total repatriates to 100 so far.
They were the third batch of Filipinos severely affected by the magnitude 7.8 earthquake who were assisted by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and the Philippine Embassy in Ankara in returning to the country.
About 50 other earthquake-affected Filipinos are still staying in Philippine Embassy shelters.
鈥淔ilipinos opting to remain in Turkey are likewise given assistance, including provisions for their extending their stay, as well as finding the appropriate housing and financial programs and other services offered by the Turkish government and nongovernmental organizations so that they could rebuild their homes,鈥 the DFA said in a statement.
