PH logs 1,171 COVID-19 infections from March 13 to 19

The Department of Health (DOH) recorded a total of 1,171 COVID-19 infections from March 13 to 19, which is slightly higher than the 983 infections registered the previous week.

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) recorded 1,171 COVID-19 infections from March 13 to 19, slightly higher than the 983 infections registered the previous week.

Based on the DOH’s latest weekly COVID-19 bulletin on Monday, the said infections translate to a daily average of 167 cases.

This number is 19 percent higher than the 140 daily average recorded the previous week, March 6 to 12.

Six of the new total infections were also tagged as critical or severe, with active critical or severe COVID-19 admissions now at 368.

Meanwhile, 63 were added to the country’s COVID-19 death toll, none of which were recorded in the past two weeks — all recorded deaths were backlogs recorded as early as January 2021.

Despite the rise in infections, the utilization of ICU beds slightly decreased from 13.4 to 13.3 percent, as well as the non-ICU bed utilization rate from 17.1 to 17 percent.

Regarding vaccination progress, 78,443,972 individuals have been fully vaccinated with the primary series of COVID-19 vaccines, with only 5,371 individuals newly vaccinated.

A total of 23,811,248, meanwhile, have been vaccinated with their booster shots, after 10,177 received the shots last week.

Based on DOH’s online tracker, the country’s total COVID-19 caseload is currently at 4,078,994, as of March 19, with 4,003,432 recoveries and 66,272 deaths.

Active cases, meanwhile, are currently at 9,290.
