LTO on alert for Holy Week, summer exodus

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) will be under heightened alert status beginning March 31 to April 10 in preparation for the annual exodus during Holy Week and summer vacation. In a statement, the LTO said a seminar would be held on Tuesday for public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers and conductors as part of the agency鈥檚 road safety campaign for the Holy Week. LTO chief Jose Arturo Tugade said the agency would focus on the road safety and roadworthiness of PUVs, adding that they would also inspect land transportation terminals and provide assistance to motorists. The LTO will also conduct random drug testing among PUV drivers and conductors. 鈥淲e also ask for the public鈥檚 cooperation in being careful and obeying traffic laws for smooth travel this year,鈥 Tugade said.
