DOH logs 1,721 new COVID-19 infections from March 27 to April 2

The Department of Health (DOH) has recorded a total of 1,721 infections of COVID-19 from March 27 to April 2, which is higher than the 1,298 registered the previous week.

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) has recorded a total of 1,721 infections of COVID-19 from March 27 to April 2, which is higher than the 1,298 registered the previous week.

Based on the DOH’s latest weekly COVID-19 bulletin on Monday, these infections translate to a daily average of 246 cases, which is 33 percent higher than the 185 daily average recorded from March 20 to 26.

Thirteen of these infections were also tagged as critical or severe, with active critical or severe COVID-19 admissions currently at 347.

Meanwhile, 58 were added to the country’s COVID-19 death toll but none were noted in the past two weeks as all recorded deaths were backlogs reported as early as October 2020.

On the other hand, no new data on vaccination accomplishment has been released by the DOH. As of March 19, the total individuals fully vaccinated with the primary dose of COVID-19 vaccines number 78,443,972, while those who have gotten their booster shots are at 23,811,248.

Based on DOH’s online tracker, the country’s total COVID-19 caseload is currently at 4,081,818, as of April 4, with 4,006,348 recoveries and 66,390 deaths.

Active cases, meanwhile, are currently 9,080.
