SORSOGON CITY — More than 1,000 passengers were stranded in seaports in Sorsogon province after the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) suspended all trips due to Tropical Depression Amang, which is affecting the Bicol region and some areas of south Quezon on Wednesday, April 12.

PCG Bicol said that as of 11 a.m., at least 1,235 passengers and 215 rolling cargoes were stranded in Matnog port.

In Pilar, 211 passengers and 54 rolling cargoes bound for Masbate were stranded.

The agency reminds the public that small watercrafts are temporarily prohibited from sailing for everyone’s safety due to incessant rains and big waves.

The state weather bureau said on its 11 a.m. bulletin that Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal (TCWS) No. 1 remained hoisted in Catanduanes, Sorsogon, Albay, Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Ticao Island, Burias Island, the eastern portion of Laguna (San Pablo City, Rizal, Nagcarlan, Pila, Liliw, Magdalena, Majayjay, Luisiana, Cavinti, Pagsanjan, Santa Cruz, Lumban, Kalayaan, Paete, Pakil, Pangil, Siniloan, Famy, Santa Maria, Mabitac), Aurora, Quezon, and the eastern portion of Rizal (Tanay, Pililla, Jala-Jala).
