MANILA, Philippines β€” The Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday issued guidelines for the second COVID-19 booster shot to the general population β€” excluding children ages 5 to 17.

Previously, only frontline healthcare workers, senior citizens, and persons with comorbidities were eligible.

In its guidelines, the DOH said all healthy adults aged 18 and above may now receive their second booster shot β€” the fourth dose all in all, including the first two primary doses β€” after six months from their first booster.

β€œPwede pa rin bakunahan kahit lampas na sa inirerekomendang agwat mula sa unang booster dose,” said DOH in its guidelines.

(You can still be vaccinated after the recommended interval from the first booster dose.)

AztaZeneca, Pfizer and Moderna are the vaccines that will be used for the second booster.

Meanwhile, healthcare workers aged 50 and above and persons with comorbidity may get their second booster jabs after more than three if they will be inoculated with AstraZeneca and four months if Pfizer or Moderna.

Immunocompromised adults, for their part, may continue to acquire their second booster doses after more than three months from their first booster.
