Suspected NPA rebel slain in Bohol clash
TAGBILARAN CITY — A suspected New People’s Army (NPA) rebel was killed in an encounter Friday, May 12, with government troops in Antequera town, Bohol.
The firefight at 6:10 a.m. in the boundaries of Barangays Tabuan in Antequera town and Abehilan in San Isidro resulted in the death of a rebel and the recovery of a .45 pistol with magazine and several live ammunition, according to the Bohol police.
The Bohol Police Provincial Office reported that NPA surrenderers knew the fatality only as “Jasper.”
On May 11, soldiers under the 94th Infantry Battalion, clashed with NPA rebels for about 20 minutes in the Barangay Hilamonan, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental. Recovered after the firefight were an M16 rifle; an M4 rifle; two M16 magazines with live ammunition; a bandolier; a backpack, and personal belongings.
Several rebels were believed to have been wounded during the firefight as shown by bloodstains in the area.
