50 BIFF members surrender in Maguindanao del Norte — PNP

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Friday said 50 former Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) members have returned to the law’s folds.

PNP chief Benjamin Acorda Jr. witnessed the mass surrender of BIFF members during a ceremony at Camp Brigadier General Salipada K. Pendatun in Parang, Maguindanao del Norte, on Thursday.

“This event marks a crucial step towards lasting peace and reconciliation in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao,” the PNP said in a statement.

During the ceremony, Acorda also presented the livelihood assistance program to the former BIFF combatants.

“Through livelihood training, skills development, and financial aid, the PNP and its partners are committed to ensuring that the former combatants have sustainable income and livelihood,” the PNP said.
