Classes suspended in Calamba City, Los Baños in Laguna due to Mawar
LUCENA CITY — The local governments of Calamba City and Los Baños town in Laguna province suspended classes in public and private schools as precautionary measures due to the approaching supertyphoon Mawar.
Calamba City Mayor Roseller Rizal, suspended on Friday in-person classes from pre-kindergarten to college in the locality.
The mayor said the classes would be held in modular or online method.
In Los Baños, authorities suspended classes from pre-school to senior high.
But the local government encouraged holding classes online.
Article continues after this advertisementOn Friday morning, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported that Mawar further intensified as it neared the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) and may reach its peak fury within 24 to 36 hours.

Pagasa also said Mawar was carrying maximum sustained winds of 215 kilometers per hour (kph) and gusts of up to 265 kph. INQ
