An expectant mom from North Caloocan has taken social media by storm after she shared her hilarious conversation with her father, who mistook her sonogram for a satellite image of a super typhoon.

Social media user Camille Pearl Billones-Apawan could not contain her excitement as a first-time mom as she eagerly shared the result of her transvaginal ultrasound with her loved ones on Sunday, May 28.

Her construction worker dad, Ronnie, is currently in Aklan, so Apawan decided to send him a snapshot of her sonogram via Messenger.

Little did Apawan expect that her father would interpret the image in an entirely unexpected way, mistaking the for a satellite image of powerful Super Typhoon Mawar, which entered the Philippine area of responsibility early Saturday morning and was locally named 鈥Betty.鈥

As her dad extended his congratulations, he noted in jest that his other grandchild, Aki, now had a worthy competitor.

Apawan told the Inquirer in an interview that this was not the first time she had a conversation with her dad, who constantly cracks jokes and witty remarks every time they chat.

She recalled that in April 2022, she messaged her dad to report to him that they got into an accident, but instead of asking how they were, he first asked if they were paid by the person who hit them.

When she confirmed that the person liable for the accident paid them P6,000, Apawan鈥檚 dad jokingly replied: 鈥淢agpabangga pa [kayo]. Araw-arawin [niyo]. Biglang yaman [di ba]?鈥

(Keep getting into accidents. Do it every day. Suddenly, you鈥檒l become rich, right?)

Netizens react

Apawan swiftly became an online sensation, with her garnering over 98,000 reactions and more than 32,000 shares as of this writing.

Just like her dad, other social media users dropped their witty remarks after her post had gone .

鈥淪umabay ka kasi ng announcement sa bagyo [eh]. Ibang balita pala ang ine-expect niyang [darating],鈥 a comment reads.

(You made an announcement along with the typhoon, but he was expecting a different piece of news.)

(Good thing your dad didn鈥檛 tell you that if your baby is a girl, you should name her 鈥淏etty,鈥 and if it鈥檚 a boy, you should name him 鈥淢awar.鈥)

Meanwhile, in its 11 p.m. bulletin issued on Saturday, May 27,聽the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration already downgraded Betty from being a super typhoon to a typhoon category as it slightly weakened while moving over the Philippine Sea east of northern Luzon.
