Illegal recruitment agency padlocked
MANILA, Philippines — Another agency has been shut down by the (DMW) for alleged illegal recruitment of aspiring migrant workers and for costly payment schemes.
Migrant Secretary Susan Ople on Friday led a team of DMW personnel in closing the offices of OVM Visa Assistance and Travel Consultancy located at Barangay Pasong Tamo in Quezon City.
The DMW said the agency owned by a certain Vilma Rosario was operating without a license and offering job applicants jobs in Malta and Poland.
The agency was charging as much as P420,000 in processing fees. “Applicants were told they need to pay a downpayment of P60,000 upon submission of the requirements,” the DMW said.
