Herbosa, Teodoro ‘welcome additions’ to Marcos’ Cabinet – Romualdez

MANILA, Philippines — House Speaker Martin Romualdez on Tuesday welcomed the appointments of Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa and Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro, saying that they ‘strengthen’ President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s cabinet.

Romualdez said the latest appointments indicate that Marcos is ensuring the best people will join him in serving the country.

“They are welcome additions to the President’s immediate official family. Their wealth of experience and knowledge in defense and health strengthen the Marcos cabinet,” Romualdez said in a statement.

The House Speaker also said the two were knowledgeable in their fields but could still bring new insights.

“I think that most importantly, they will bring a civilian perspective to the defense and health sectors,” he said.

On Monday evening, Malacañang palace announced that Herbosa was appointed the Department of Health Secretary while Teodoro was selected as the Department of National Defense chief.

Before their appointments, officers-in-charge held the top positions at the two departments.
