Five persons, including a minor, from Cagayan de Oro City were arrested yesterday for using fictitious names to avail of a Globe聽 plan where they could get free cell phones.
A man and woman were first stopped in the Globe office in聽 E-Mall on N. Bacalso Avenue, Cebu City, where they were applying for聽 post-paid lines.
They had several company IDs with their photos聽 on them but with聽 different names.
Police said the company names were聽 nonexistent.
Fake IDs聽 would make it difficult to locate them for unpaid phone bills later.
Police said five cell phones worth at least P10,000 each were recovered from the suspects.
Security personnel first arrested Christine Bajolo, 27, and Paolo Pedrosa. Their companions聽 Ronald Tipon, 30, Antonio Tipon and the minor were later聽 arrested in the same mall.
Charges of estafa and illegal use of aliases will be filed against them, said Chief Insp. Bonifacio Garciano, chief of the Investigation and Detection Management Branch of the Cebu City police.
Jojo Biray, head security officer, said聽 the first two suspects聽聽 applied for a Globe plan in the Globe office in the mall at noon.
They were聽 about to finish their application when security personnel noticed these were the same persons who previously applied for a plan using different names. /CORRESPONDENT CHITO O. ARAGON
