PH’s COVID-19 positivity rate drops to 8.6% as of June 18 鈥� Octa Research

MANILA, Philippines — The COVID-19 positivity rate in the country plummeted to 8.6 percent as of June 18 from 10.3 percent as of the day before, according to Octa Research fellow Guido David.
In a Twitter post on Sunday evening, David also reported that the Philippines had recorded 726 new coronavirus infections, citing figures from the Department of Health (DOH), which also showed that of the total fresh cases, 158 were from the National Capital Region or Metro Manila.

David tweeted on Monday that while coronavirus positivity rates in most Luzon provinces fell, Palawan and Pangasinan’s ration surged from 17.9 percent and 19.4 percent on June 10 to 19.5 percent and 21.4 percent on June 17.
As of June 17, COVID-19 positivity rates in Metro Manila, Rizal, and Bulacan are below 10 percent, he said.
Covid 7-day testing positivity rates decreased in most provinces in Luzon as of June 17. Palawan and Pangasinan had upticks in positivity rate. In NCR, Rizal and Bulacan, the positivity rates decreased below 10%.

David said that based on the latest coronavirus numbers, it may be projected that June 19 could see 400 to 500 new COVID-19 cases.
The DOH COVID-19 tracker’s recent count showed that the Philippines had confirmed 4,159,310 COVID-19 cases, including 8,861 active infections, 4,083,967 recoveries, and 66,482 deaths, David noted.
