Bongbong Marcos: Remember the importance of sacrifice this Eid’l Adha

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Wednesday greeted Muslim Filipinos on Eid’l Adha, encouraging the public to remember the value of sacrifice and selflessness.

The President expressed solidarity with the Muslim Filipino community this Eid’l Adha or Feast of Sacrifice, saying that he wished for a meaningful and solemn celebration.

“Let us all be reminded of the importance of sacrifice and selflessness that mirror the essence of this occasion so that we can join hands with our Muslim brothers and sisters from all over the world in the spirit of peace, unity, and mutual respect,” said Marcos in a statement.

According to Marcos, the country has a diverse set of creeds that is further enriched by Muslim Filipinos.

“Let their devotion to these beliefs shine above all throughout the festivities and further strengthen the bond among our families, friends, and communities. For it is only when we openly and willingly embrace each other’s differences that we will be able to build a more prosperous and harmonious society for all,” he said.

Eid’l Adha commemorates the willingness of the Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son’s life upon Allah’s command. Ibrahim however, was stopped by Allah at the last moment after proving his unwavering faith.
