College student allegedly raped at UP Diliman campus

MANILA, Philippines — A college student was allegedly raped by an unidentified man at a vacant lot inside the University of the Philippines Diliman campus in Quezon City, the police said on Tuesday.

According to the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), the victim was reportedly approached by a man armed with a bladed weapon and raped her at a vacant lot near a baseball field along Ylanan St. last Saturday, July 1, at around 11 p.m.

The student eventually sought the assistance of UP Diliman Police (UPDP) personnel, who then brought her to the Crime Laboratory at Camp Crame. The case was later turned over to the QCPD’s Anonas Police Station.

The QCPD said an investigation is ongoing and that a follow-up operation is being conducted in coordination with the UPDP. It also said that footage of CCTVs installed in five locations within the area will be thoroughly checked by investigators.
