P240 million worth of counterfeit 'branded' goods seized in Subic Freeport.

SUBIC BAY FREEPORT — The Bureau of Customs (BOC) intercepted some P240 million worth of fake branded items inside this free port, the agency said on Saturday, July 16.

According to a report from Customs, two 40-foot container shipments that had been declared to contain T-shirts were confiscated following the intelligence report received by Subic port district collector Carmelita Talusan.

During the inspection inside the Subic free port, authorities discovered 1,269 boxes of counterfeit products bearing trademarks and copyrighted materials without the required authorization from the rights holders.

Some of the items that were discovered inside the boxes were fake luxury brands such as Balenciaga, Louis Vuitton, Lacoste, and other brands like Adidas, Calvin Klein, Under Armour, GAP, Nike, Zara, Reebok. The items bore trademarks and copyrighted materials without the required authorization from the rights holders.

Warrants of Seizure and Detention were issued against the subject shipments for violation of Section 155 of Republic Act (R.A.) No. 8293 or the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines, in relation to Section 1113 (f) of R.A. No. 10863 Customs Modernization and Tariff Act. INQ
