LUCENA CITY – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) suspended sea travel on Sunday (July 16) for small vessels in the provinces of Batangas, Marinduque and parts of southern Quezon due to rough sea conditions.

The PCG advisory cited a 5 a.m. forecast by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) of a strong gale with wind force and rough to very rough sea conditions.

This meant that all trips of small crafts with 250 gross tonnage or less, like motorized passenger or fishing boats in Batangas and Marinduque were cancelled.

The PCG order also covered small sea vessels in the coastal towns of San Francisco, Mulanay, Catanauan, General Luna, Macalelon, Agdangan, Pitogo, Unisan, and Padre Burgos in the Bondoc Peninsula district in Quezon.

The suspension order would be lifted, and sea travel for small crafts “may be resumed any time when weather/sea conditions permit as may be declared” by Pagasa, the PCG said.
