Suspect in rape-slay of teen girl in Cavite nabbed

LUCENA CITY — A drug-user mother on Tuesday strangled to death her 2-year-old son in Bacoor City, Cavite, police said on Wednesday, July 19. Sonny Gregorio accused his live-in partner, Rhina Maninang, 25, of killing their son, Sam, by strangulation inside their bedroom in Barangay Talaba 1 at around 7 a.m., the Region 4A police reported. The incident was witnessed by the victim’s brother, according to the report. Maninang was arrested and detained at the city jail to face parricide charges. “Drug-related is the motive being considered in this case considering that the suspect is a drug-user,” the police said. The report did not specify if the suspect was under the influence of an illegal drug during the incident.
