9 Luzon power plants not yet back to normal operations — DOE

The Department of Energy (DOE) on Thursday said nine power generation plants in Luzon, which were affected by Typhoon Egay, have yet to resume normal operations.

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Energy (DOE) on Thursday said nine power generation plants in Luzon, which were affected by Typhoon Egay, have yet to resume normal operations. 

In an advisory, the DOE said the power plants’ operations were hampered by flash floods, clogging and accumulation of silt.

Below are the nine power generation plants that have yet to resume normal operations as of 9 a.m. on Thursday according to DOE:

  • Ampohaw Units 1-3 in Sablan, Benguet
  • Bineng 3 Unit 1 in La Trinidad, Benguet
  • La Trinidad Units 1-2 in La Trinidad, Benguet
  • Irisan 3 Units 1-3 in Tuba, Benguet
  • Irisan 1 Unit 1 Tuba, Benguet
  • Sal-angan Units 1-4 due to NGCP 23kV transmission line fault in Itogon, Benguet
  • NLREC Caparispisan Wind due to the tripping of 115 KV TL due to detached connection of TLA at towers CL126 and CL161 in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on Thursday afternoon said Typhoon Egay has already exited the Philippine area of responsibility. 

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1, however, remains hoisted over Batanes, northern portion of Apayao, Ilocos Norte, and the northeastern portion of Cagayan.
