Over 4.5 million individuals affected by recent typhoons, ‘habagat’ — NDRRMC

MANILA, Philippines — The number persons affected by the recent typhoons and the southwest monsoon or “habagat” has exceeded 4.5 million, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported on Tuesday. 

Based on its latest situational report, NDRRMC said Typhoon Egay (international name: Doksuri), Falcon (international name: Khanun), and the “habagat” have affected 4,534,351 locals or 1,204,000 families in 5,346 barangays nationwide.

The agency likewise recorded 125,739 displaced persons in the Ilocos region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Mimaropa (Mindoro Oriental and Occidental, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan), Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon) and Western Visayas.

A total of 32,081 are still in evacuation centers while the other 93,658 sought shelter elsewhere.

Meanwhile, the death toll rose to 30, while 171, and 10 are still missing.

Of the deaths, only four are confirmed, while 26 others are currently for validation. 

The NDRRMC said it had so far distributed P464,848,763 worth of aid.
