P8M shabu seized from ‘high-value’ target in Lucena City

LUCENA CITY — Police arrested a “high-value” target and seized more than P8 million worth of shabu (crystal meth) in a buy-bust operation early Wednesday in this city.

Colonel Ledon Monte, Quezon police chief, reported that anti-illegal drugs operatives arrested at 1:56 a.m. Alibsar Macasari, 37, after he sold shabu worth P60,000 to a poseur buyer in Barangay Ibabang Dupay.

Authorities confiscated from the suspect four plastic sachets and three knot-tied plastic containing 400 grams of meth with an estimated Dangerous Drugs Board value of P2,720,000.

It is worth P8,160,000 in the street market at P20,400 per gram, the report said.

Authorities also seized a mobile phone, which will be subjected to digital forensic examinations if they have records of drug transactions.

The police are conducting further investigation to determine the source of the illegal drugs.

Police tagged the suspect, a resident of General Mariano Alvarez town in Cavite province, as a “high-value individual” in the drug trade.

The suspect was detained and is facing complaints for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
