Senate adopts 2 resolutions commending Filipino athletes for excelling in sports
MANILA, Philippines — Two separate resolutions commending and congratulating Filipino athletes were adopted by the Senate on Wednesday.
First of these two measures is Senate Resolution No. 723, rejoicing the victory of the Little League Philippines at the 2023 Junior League Softball World Series in Kirkland, Washington.
“It is my great pride and honor to sponsor a resolution commending and congratulating our very own Bago City softball team for their big victory as the champions of the 2023 Junior League Softball World Series,” said Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri in his sponsorship speech.
“We are immensely proud of our girls from Bago City for representing not only Asia and the Pacific and the Philippines, but Negros Occidental as well. They went undefeated for their whole junior league run. We salute the team for putting Negros Occidental back on top of the softball team — exactly two decades after Bacolod City took the crown home in 2003,” he added.

Meanwhile, a separate measure — SR No. 684, congratulating James Aranas and Johann Chua for winning the 2023 World Cup of Pool — was also adopted in the same plenary session.

“The 2023 World Cup of Pool is a prestigious pool doubles tournament participated in by 32 teams, representing different countries, which was held from June 27 to July 2, 2023 in Spain. This triumph holds a special significance as it marks the country’s fourth World Cup of Pool championship, thus ending a decade-long title drought since 2013,” he added.
