Phase 1 of national broadband program done by December, says DICT
MANILA, Philippines — Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) intends to complete the first part of the National Fiber Backbone by the end of 2023.
“We are on track to finish by the end of 2023 the National Fiber Backbone phase one, which will light up 28 nodes in Luzon,” DICT Secretary Ivan Uy said in a speech at the 2023 National ICT Summit on Tuesday.
Nodes are central connecting points or intersections.
The National Fiber Backbone program, part of the larger National Broadband Project that started in 2017, provides nationwide broadband connectivity.
“We are accelerating the deployment of physical infrastructure, interventions, and both wired and wireless broadband technologies, through our Broadband ng Masa program,” Uy added.
