Driver’s license of ex-cop in QC road rage incident suspended
MANILA, Philippines — The driver’s license of Wilfredo Gonzales, a former police officer who was caught on video pulling out a gun at a cyclist during a road altercation in Quezon City, has been put on preventive suspension for 90 days, the (LTO) said in a statement issued on Monday.
“The preventive suspension we have imposed is a quick action by the LTO to ensure that he does not repeat the incident of assaulting and pulling out a gun on a bicycle rider,” LTO chief Vigor Mendoza II said in Filipino.
“This is not the final decision. This case is currently being investigated, and depending on the outcome of the investigation, there may be a permanent revocation and he would not be issued a driver’s license for life.”
Mendoza pointed out that Gonzales still had the right to due process.
Gonzales has also been summoned to the LTO to explain why his driver’s license should not be permanently revoked.
