The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) on Thursday urged the government to improve the national grid and include nuclear energy in the country’s energy mix to cut the cost of electricity in the country. PCCI president George Barcelon said the cost of power is one of the deterrents to foreign investments and the expansion of local companies. Barcelon also lauded the government for cutting the number of permits required by government agencies from 50 to 30. He lauded the improvement, but said 30 permits still requires a lot of paperwork and the government can still further reduce the number of required permits. —ALDEN M. MONZON
