LUCENA CITY — Sea travel for small vessels in Marinduque, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Romblon, and southern Quezon remained suspended on Tuesday, Sept. 5, due to the rough sea, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said.

The PCG-Southern Tagalog district advisory cited a 5 a.m. forecast by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) of a strong gale-force wind associated with Tropical Storm Hanna (international name: Haikui), despite her exit from the country on Monday.

The enhanced southwest monsoon was also expected to affect the western and southern seaboard of Southern Luzon and could result in high waves measuring 2.8 to 4.5 meters tall, the advisory said.

This meant that all trips of small crafts with 250 gross tonnages or less, like motorized passenger or fishing boats in Marinduque, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Romblon, and southern Quezon were suspended.

The order, separately issued and signed by respective PCG commanders in the said areas was posted on the Facebook page of the Coast Guard District Southern Tagalog around 7:40 a.m. Monday.

However, all boats in Batangas province and the northern part of Quezon, including the Polillo group of islands started sailing again on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 3, after Pagasa lifted the gale warning in the two areas, the PCG said.
