Public warned vs posers soliciting money using BFAR exec’s name
MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) is warning the public against posers using the name of its official to solicit money.
In a notice on Tuesday, BFAR said it received multiple reports that certain individuals pretend as employees of the BFAR Office of Director and maliciously use the official’s name to get money from suppliers and bidders of BFAR projects and programs.
“Please be informed that such solicitations are fraudulent and unauthorized,” BFAR said.
“We hereby warn the general public against unscrupulous persons engaged in fraudulent activities who are misrepresenting officials and employees of BFAR,” it added.
BFAR encouraged anyone who may encounter such illegal activity to immediately report it to its Director’s Office by sending an email to [email protected] or calling (02) 8539-5685.
