Over 1.2 million travelers in NAIA expected for Undas, elections exodus

MANILA, Philippines —  The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) said that it has begun preparations for the expected rise in travelers for the “Undas” or All Saints’ Day, as well as the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections.

According to MIAA officer-in-charge Bryan Co on Saturday, passenger traffic in the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) for the days leading up to and after Undas may exceed 130,000 daily, totaling up to 1.2 million passengers over the ten-day period which will begin on October 27.

“The third quarter of this year has been NAIA’s best-performing period compared to the previous two quarters. This trend indicates that air travel is on the rise. Based on this scenario, it is crucial for us to proactively plan for a passenger influx comparable to pre-pandemic levels,” Co said.

The MIAA said that it has enacted  “OPLAN Biyaheng Ayos: Barangay and SK Elections and Undas 2023” which will oversee airport flow for the period.

“Beyond our standard preparations, contingencies are in place to address any potential issues that may arise across all areas of NAIA operations, including people, processes, and facilities,” Co added.
