MANILA, Philippines — A 50-year-old man was arrested Friday after firing his gun inside Philippine National Police national headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon city.

In its initial report, PNP said the unidentified suspect from Barangay Caniogan, Pasig city, entered Gate 2 of Camp Crame on board his bicycle at around 1:40 pm.

Upon reaching Bulwagang Lapu-lapu area, the suspect fired his .22 cal revolver, catching the attention of the police, which led to his arrest.

The report stated the suspect did it “to protest the alleged corruption in this ongoing election.”

Aside from the firearm, authorities seized two live ammunition and an empty shell from the suspect, as well as assorted election fliers.

The man is facing charges of violation of illegal discharge of firearms under Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act and the election gun ban.
