MANILA, Philippines — The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Monday said it has not monitored any untoward incident during the first few hours of the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections.

“The initial hour for barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections recorded no untoward incidents in NCR […] The delivery of election paraphernalia and opening of the polling precincts in Metro Manila was peaceful,” NCRPO acting director Brig. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said in a statement.

For the next few hours, Nartatez said NCRPO will intensify its police presence in Metro Manila as they anticipate an influx of more voters.

“Security in voting centers will continue throughout the day and will strictly implement post-election related security measures,” the NCRPO chief said.

“On the same note, we assure the public that the security force is geared against any untoward incident. Coordination among government agencies also persists to conclude a safe and secured BSKE 2023,” he added.
