Lawmaker seeks revival of 鈥楤icol Express鈥�
A party list lawmaker on Tuesday expressed optimism that the revival of the “game-changer” Bicol Express railway will push through under President Marcos even if its fund sources are still uncertain.
Bicol Saro Rep. Brian Raymund Yamsuan cited the recent groundbreaking of resettlement areas for Laguna and Quezon residents to be affected by the P142-billion Philippine National Railways South Long Haul project.
He cited reports that the government is eyeing the construction of 3,651 housing units worth P2.83 billion in San Pablo City in Laguna, and Tiaong, Candelaria, Sariaya and Pagbilao towns in Quezon province for residents to be displaced by the railway.
The railway will start in Banlic, Laguna, and will traverse the provinces of Laguna, Quezon and Camarines Sur, before finally ending in Daraga, Albay.
