Comelec received House Resolution No. 154 from the House of Representatives urging it to “reconsider its resolution for the conduct of the special election” in the Third District of Negros Oriental “given all existing circumstances and predicament” in the province.

9 detainees bolt Tondo jail; 5 recaptured

Nine detainees escaped from the custodial facility of Manila Police District’s Station 1 in Tondo, Manila, on Wednesday morning.

In a report, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said the nine detainees under police custody broke out of the facility at around 1:30 a.m.

2 witnesses claim seeing men transferring body of missing beauty queen

Two witnesses claiming that they saw three men allegedly transferring the body of missing beauty queen Catherine Camilon to another vehicle have come forward to help the authorities, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Citing a report from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group – Calabarzon, PNP spokesperson and public information office chief Col. Jean Fajardo said the two unnamed witnesses surfaced after the police asked the public for help.

No tsunami threat is expected in the country following the magnitude 6.9 earthquake that jolted the Banda Sea in Indonesia on Wednesday, state seismologists said.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the earthquake, with a depth of 10 kilometers, was detected at the Banda Sea at 12:53 p.m.
