SC announces date of new lawyers’ induction

The Supreme Court on Wednesday announced that the oath-taking and roll-signing ceremony for those who passed the 2023 bar exams will be held next month and fees will remain the same.

The high court, in a statement, said the ceremony will be held on Dec. 22 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City, but it did not say when the results of the exams will be released.

“There will be no increase in the bar admission fees this year. Examinees and guests are encouraged to make the necessary logistical preparations,” it added, noting that the oath-taking and roll-signing fee remains at P5,000. A total of 10,387 out of 10,791 registered examinees took and completed the three-day Bar examinations administered by the high court last September.

Associate Justice and 2023 Bar Chair Ramon Paul Hernando earlier said they are targeting to release the results of the 2023 bar exams in early December. “For the longest time, Bar examinees have had to endure several months of perceived agony of waiting before the results of the professional licensure exams for future lawyers are released,” he said.

“This year, however, following the examples of my recent predecessors as bar chair, the time spent by the examinees waiting in agony for the results of the exams will be cut short: my team and I are eyeing the release of the results of the 2023 bar examinations in early December before Christmas Day,” he added. —TINA G.
